What to see and do

mapTo the north is Margaret River, to the south is Augusta, to the east and inland is Nannup and to the west are the beaches and the shores of the Indian Ocean.

The Beaches

  • Hamelin Bay – swimming beach and boat ramp
  • Foul Bay and Cosy Corner – next to Hamelin Bay, lesser known but breathtakingly beautiful
  • Augusta – whale watching, fishing and kite surfing
  • Boranup Beach – white sand, crystal water, great waves, 4WD only

The Bush

  • Boranup Karri Forest (Scenic Drive) – as the forest used to be, 2WD suitable
  • Caves in the Boranup Forest – walk, climb or abseil down the numerous caves in the forest
  • Blackwood River, Alexander Bridge – fish, swim, hire a canoe (in season) or bring your own

The Wineries

  • Hamelin Bay – cellar sales or perhaps for lunch
  • Random Valley – organic wines
  • Blackwood Meadery – honey wine and liquor

The Rest

  • Art Gallery and Cafe in Boranup Forest along Caves Road
  • Karridale Tavern – excellent bistro (recommend reserving a table for dinner during peak season), a 2 minute walk from The Karrikesh
  • Atelier Suzi – distinctive jewellery and Christmas decorations in the European tradition, right next door to The Karrikesh;
